October’s engineer in the spotlight

We’re continuing to highlight the people behind the expertise in this month’s spotlight. It is Xavier Verhulst who we are interviewing.

Xavier is a Commissioning Engineer. His main role is to inspect the equipment and to program for PX series PLCs in HVAC comfort. It’s an integral position that combines theory with practice.

Hello Xavier, how did you become an engineer at Catalay?

“Through a friend and former colleague at Axima.”

What’s the best thing about being an Engineer Commissioning at Catalay?

“The Catalay team gets along well and takes an interest in each other. This close-knit team makes it possible to feel good and to develop well in one’s work.”

How would you describe Catalay in 3 words?

“Human, Integration, Party.”

What’s your biggest win at Catalay so far?

“Apart from my victory in karting?

My evolution in my work and the recognition of it.”

Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us.

“I have always been fascinated by mechanics, which is probably why I am a motorbike fan. I have been riding for about ten years, and as a teenager, I was already riding a scooter like many other young people 😛. I wanted absolutely to get my license because all my friends already had it.

I still share the road with my friends. And I practice the circuit occasionally for pleasure, not for competition. It’s still a pretty expensive sport in Belgium!”

If you could give one important piece of advice to others in your function, what would it be?

“To persevere, and above all not to be afraid to ask for advice when you don’t know. We are a team.”

What was your favorite Catalay event so far?

“Definitely the ski trip to Austria that was organized by Catalay in 2022!”

Thank you Xavier for sharing your story.
