Electrical Engineer - Power Systems Transmission & Distribution
What you'll do
THE MISSION
Realize the design and manage the various aspects related to studies of HV and MV substations:
- Have a good knowledge or willing to acquire knowledge necessary for specific project needs with respect to Electrical System Calculations, static and dynamic:
- Load Flow calculations;
- Short Circuit calculations;
- Motor Starting calculations;
- Insulation coordination;
- Transient calculations;
- Protection Coordination and Selectivity studies;
- Harmonic calculations;
- Electro-Magnetic Compatibility calculations (EMC);
- Ampacity calculation of HV, MV and LV cables;
- DC-power system calculations (battery calculations);
- Power Transformer parameter dimensioning (ratio, power, Ucc,…);
- VT/CVT/CT core dimensioning for measuring transformers;
- Surge arrestor dimensioning;
- Capacitor banks and reactor dimensioning;
- Filter dimensioning;
- Dimensioning of earthing grid for substations;
- Dimensioning of lightning protection systems;
- Diesel group dimensioning;
- Knowledge on the use of the following simulation and dimensioning software: DigSilent, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, EMTP-RV, ELEC CALC, CYMCAP and willing to acquire in depth knowledge of these tools.
- Have a good knowledge on electro-technical system modelling.
- Have a good knowledge or willing to acquire knowledge on the theoretical background of electro-technical systems and equipment’s:
- Power Transformers, auxiliary transformers, earthing transformers, reactors, capacitors, surge arrestors, cables in general and overhead lines, current limiters, circuit breakers, batteries and rectifiers diesel generators.
- Knowledge on systems as HVDC and FACTS are an advantage.
- Collect the required input data for the calculation and design studies.
- Design electrical Single Line Diagrams (HV, MV and LV).
- Interpret calculation results and write calculation notes and reports.
- Participate in design reviews.
- Manage the technical follow up of calculation notes and reports.
- Realize post incident/accident analysis within electrical grids as to assess the origin of incidents/accidents.
Who we're looking for
- A master of industrial engineering or a master of science in engineering (or equivalent by proven experience) with preference in Electrical Power Systems having at least 5 years’ experience in the field of Transmission and Distribution systems.
- Have proficient knowledge of English and French or Dutch as second language. Additional language knowledge is an advantage.
- Be highly motivated, eager to learn and broaden the knowledge with respect to the field of Transmission and Distribution in general and power systems and protections in particular.
- Feel comfortable working independently, however with the ability to communicate efficiently;
- Be able to function in a team realizing the complete project together.
- Customer-satisfaction must be part of the consultant’s day-to-day vision.
- Have a dynamic personality and a proactive and innovative approach to work.
- Have a systematic analytical approach.
- Have an acute sense of responsibility with respect to project financials, project planning and knowledge sharing with colleagues in general.
- Be flexible and open to missions abroad (short, medium or long-term).
